Every day, we talk with women who are considering abortion. Some feel scared, stuck, or numb. Others just want it all to go away. Every emotion is valid, and every woman deserves a safe space to process, ask questions, and breathe. That’s why we offer free appointments with trained advocates and registered nurses who care deeply and won’t rush you.
There are two main types of abortion: medication (the abortion pill) and surgical procedures. The option available depends on how far along you are in your pregnancy and other health factors. Contact us for more information.
Even if you have pregnancy symptoms or have taken a home test, you should confirm your pregnancy with a medical-grade pregnancy test and an ultrasound. A pregnancy may potentially be detected as early as 7 to 10 days after conception.
It is important to know up to 25% of pregnancies end in natural miscarriage. Actual rates may be higher as many women miscarry before knowing they are pregnant.

If you are pregnant, you have three basic choices:
At Hope Medical, we recommend STD testing prior to abortion to prevent undiagnosed STDs from spreading (1) farther into the reproductive system. STD testing prior to an abortion is not necessarily offered. And when it is, there is a cost. At Hope Medical, we offer free STD testing for two sexually transmitted diseases, Chlamydia and Gonorrhea.
Chlamydia and Gonorrhea are the two most common STDs in the United States. They are bacterial diseases which commonly reside in the vaginal opening. We believe it is important for pregnant women to know if they have either one of these diseases, particularly if they are considering having an abortion. For more information, our page on STD/STI testing and treatment please visit this page.
Chlamydia and Gonorrhea can have dangerous side complications if left untreated. If a woman has an undiagnosed and untreated STD/STI during an abortion or childbirth, those infected cells can travel from the vaginal opening into the uterus. When this occurs and is left untreated, a second condition called pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) can develop.
PID can have serious consequences, including infertility, ectopic pregnancy (any pregnancy outside of the uterus), abscess formation, and chronic pelvic pain. Protect your health and well-being, and get tested today!
The cost for an abortion can vary based on how far along you are in your pregnancy, the procedure, the clinic, and more. If you think you are pregnant, book a free appointment online to verify your pregnancy through a pregnancy test and ultrasound. This question is complex, and figuring out how far along you are is the first step.
With any surgery or medical procedure, there are associated risks. There are two types of abortions: surgical and medical.
A surgical procedure removes the fetus from the uterus through the vagina. It’s typically done using suction and a sharp, spoon-shaped tool (curet).
A medical abortion involves taking medication early in the pregnancy to abort the fetus.
There are several potential risks associated with both medical and surgical abortions, such as:
